Help - where to start / nursery

I have a young infant (just less than a year) who is very unique and I strongly suspect may end up with a ASD diagnosis later in life. This has been validated by a number of people who have had first hand experience.

  1. I’m not from England - where is the best place to start? Ie GP?
  2. Any recommendations on early intervention?
  3. My son is due to start a private nursery next month and I need to return to work (for various reasons) for a minimum period of a few months. I’m concerned about the support for him while at nursery and also can a private nursery ask him to leave? I have not told them I suspect ASD yet.
  4. Are there any good childcare options in London with SEN help or for a suspected ASD?

i'm not 100% certain but i dont think ASD will be diagnosed until the child starts school, however it may be worth visiting the GP in case. bubbly nursery in Lewisham provides 'support and care for children who already have diagnoses, undergoing assessment or parents / professionals who are worried about children’s development.' it may be worth taking a look at. all the best x

If you are not working full time, it might be worth looking into playgroups for children with additional challenges. There you would meet with lots of mums (and children) and share your experiences as well get some support. Start with your local church, they may run groups like this, your nearest children's centre or even private tutoring centre may have this.Good luck
