What sort of document should the school have?

Ds is on the sen register. He is a year behind and an e p assessment notes memory and processing issues and suggests various adaptations in teaching approaches. However the school is being vague and evasive when I asked what interventions are in place. They told me IEPs no longer exist. What can I expect them to document? Thanks in advance.

They’re giving you a load of old bull. They’re no longer called IEP’s but do still exist! They can be called a whole load of different things, in DS’s case it’s called a quantified provision plan. In reality they say they don’t exist because the EHCP which replaces the statements should quantify and specify more accurately. The school still needs to be providing documented evidence. Arrange a meeting!!!

I don’t think ds qualifies for an echp but should he still have some kind of document?

Yes, as Luxuryhandwash says - it might not be called an IEP (some schools decided to continue to use the name, many didn't, when the 2014 Children and Families bill brought in the new Code of Practice), however, the school needs to differentiate (work, approach, resources, staffing, environment - whatever the needs are) in order to meet his needs.
The way they are doing that has to be recorded.
They need to be clear of the baseline, then clear evidence of the adjustments they are making, and then they need to record what progress he has made (or not made) that term. It is sometimes called the 'Plan, Do, Review' cycle.
Whatever they call it, they must have documented evidence they are making adjustments to meet his needs.

Thank you. That is very helpful. I have asked them for this information and been ignored! I will ask again.

Here is a link to the legislation

Look at 6.43 on P99 However support is provided, a clear date for reviewing progress should be agreed and the parent, pupil and teaching staff should each be clear about how they will help the pupil reach the expected outcomes.

IEPs may not exist but there should be a paper trail of support created somehow. Our LA use the term One planning. Look up your LAs Local Offer it will identify the terminology your La uses. Whatever it should be reviewed at leat termly.
