Any experience of getting a blue badge without High rate mobility?

Has anyone been able to do this?

DS is 12 and find getting about very difficult. He often refuses to leave the car and I have to either force him out, spend a long time trying to persuade a very upset child to get out (and when he is upset he self harms) ori have to leave him in the car which isn't safe.

We don't receive High rate DLA as I don't think he qualifies. We have always reviewed MRC LRM. But a blue badge would make life so much easier and less stressful.

I know of people not on high rate, and they have a badge. Speak to perhaps your doctor or the benefits people regarding how you feel it would help and im sure they will either give you one or explain why they dont think you need one but if you really feel it would help i dont see why they wouldnt let you have a blue badge

One of my friends has just done this for her daughter. She doesn’t qualify anymore for a blue badge on mobility grounds but because she needs constant adult supervision for crossing car parks etc she did get it renewed. My friend said the form was quite difficult to fill out and she needed input from her daughter’s teacher who confirmed that she had problems with impulse control and wasn’t safe getting off the school bus. She said you can get a badge if your child needs a higher level of supervision than a typical child of the same age.
