Hi all. I am seeking a school for my 11yo stepson. He lives in Muswell Hill; currently he attends Fairley House. His profile: dyslexia, mild ADD, consistent significant stammer. He is a super smart and amiable yet mostly solitary little man. We are looking to move him into a mainstream setting that offers scaffolding for his dyslexia but - and this is now starting to trump our academic concerns - is proactive re social/emotional development. As a child with a stammer he is particularly vulnerable to peers: we need a kind environment with small class sizes and good ratios.
I hope you can help :)

Moor House in Oxted Surrey definitely worth a look (not to be confused with other Moorhouse in Farnham)

Hm you can contact moor house but the children there have severe speech and lang issues and I wouldn’t call it a mainstream setting as such. OP I really wouldn’t discount APS. It is amazing amazing when it comes to SEN. They basically have a small special school within the mainstream due to the amount of EHCP they get. Our DD has severe developmental lang disorder and this is the only school in a 10 or so mile radius that can cater for her and we are fighting to get her there next sept. Even with an ehcp it’s extremely competitive. They have 24 ELKLAN trained teachers and teaching assistants and it’s the only communication school left around. Normally each school has about 1 or 3 max. We specifically declined moor house to get her into a more local mainstream setting which aps is a perfect fit. They have specialist dyslexia teachers and groups of max 4 for maths and 1:1 dyslexia teachers for severe cases.
