Dyslexia and extra curricular activities - do you mention?

My ds has dyslexia (very recent diagnosis) so I am still finding my way. Do you tell instructors of out of school activities eg swimming? He attended surfing school with his brother this summer and the instructor approached his older brother (who was on the course with him) asking if he had any additional needs. My older ds explained and they were great saying ok, we’ve got loads of experience and will approach the teaching differently. I am totally lost in dyslexia and really struggling to find some support and hadn’t even thought to be honest to mention it. What do other people say? I should have asked how they approached him differently but it was so busy I couldn’t get to the instructor. Does anyone have any idea how it would differ and should I share his diagnosis with his swimming teacher?

It depends. My son can’t read instructions for example, so I have to make it known I case there is any assumption that he will have understood. He also needs instructions in small chunks and they may need repeating or clarifying. He’s very quick to learn with visual aids or demonstrations. It’s useful for everyone to make this type of information available but obviously in such a way that DS doesn’t feel “different”

I do especially if there is any organisation or listening to instructions involved
