Do you have an asd child with other mental health issues?

I need some help and advice. I don't know where to turn. My son is 7 nearly 8 and has asd, adhd, and DPD. He is currently in mainstream school. However after a meeting with school today they feel mainstream is not the right setting for him and he would benefit from a more specialised setting. On top of that blow they also have raised issues regarding his mental health and are of the opinion he possibly is also suffering from schizophrenia/dissociative identity disorder. I feel like I've been gut punched. For clarification he is from a very loving home no abuse or suchlike. I wanted to know if anyone else had a child with Dx like these and how they are coping

Do you have an ehc plan in place? If not, apply asap. Your options are much better once you have one. Visit lots of different schools. Many people would not consider an alternative setting but often children get so much more attention and understanding of their needs in a smaller, more specialist school. Look into private too- ehc plan may pay for it if this is what your child needs.

My son has ASD and Anxiety (Diagnosed by CAMHS). I have learnt not trust the opinions of schools. My sons previous school before he was diagnosed said he didn't have ASD (he actually scored very high in every area) and was definitely not displaying signs of anxiety, they felt his problems were down to ODD (oppositional defiance disorder).

I am currently trying to get an EHCP so he can attend a more specialist school. I think he will be happier at the specialist school and they will be much better able to meet his needs.

Sorry for some reason I lost my own thread Confused. Yes he does have an echp in place and is nearly on the top banding (b+) if I remember correctly. The trouble is funding he currently requires 2:1 which obviously is a huge part of schools budget. But I feel and so does his ta's that if he is given some more time this can be reduced. Maybe even by spring term. I know schools have a huge job to do balancing budgets. I'm considering offering myself for no wage to help in school to ease the burden as such.
