My Ds has been assessed by senco team at his school and a specialist teacher
I received the report today saying he has a
Poor working memory
I can't get hold of any of these teachers to speak to them and I have questions

Can anyone help?

I know you can improve your child's memory but does this mean that he has this poor memory for life?

How has he got this?
Why?

Is this to do with neurological issues?

They isn't much info out there to help people in my shoes

Any info anyone can pass on would be grateful appreciated
Thanks in advance

My son has autism and deficits in his working memory, so I think it is a neurological thing.

There are ways round it like breaing down the teaching into small steps and using visual materials.

My son finds mental maths really difficult, but gets round that by using the calculator on his phone.

But it would be best to go into school on Monday and ask for an appointment to speak to the SENCO, then you can ask how poor working memory affects your son, what they intend to do to help him in school, and if there is anything you can do at home to help.
