I'm in the process of making yet another complaint to school. Dd has Dcd and sensory issues. In our area the funding isn't there for nhs to help with sensory problems only a workshop so we have been using a private OT. She fully thinks DD needs further assessment and has said she has many ASD traits etc. I have been battling school for support so the OT went in to observe her in school. School agreed with OT do make adaptations to see if DD's behaviour changed. DD has been complaining of noise at school (she even sleeps in ear defenders) and I wrote a letter last week stating she would be wearing them at times when it was too noisy (so not all the time) On Monday afternoon I get a call from my OT saying that the SENCO has rang her and told her they will not be making any adaptations for her and they will not let her wear ear defenders as she will look different and get picked on?
I have put a formal complaint in now as it's discrimination as far as I'm concerned. The OT has said in all her years she has never seen such a disgraceful attitude and told me to pull her from school... we have a meeting set up for next week with the SENCO my OT to see what happens but I wondered if anyone had any advice???
