I have heard that dyslexic children can be provided with laptops. Does anyone know if this is right. Our DS2 (14)is dyslexic.

I know a friend's son was allowed to use a laptop at lessons when he joined secondary school, but I am not sure if the school provided it or if it was his own.

Yes, it is correct. Depending on the school's resources, they do let dyslexics use laptops if their writing is holding them back.

It depends on the school. They can use them in exams too if they have an assessment from an ed psych stating that they have a need for one. However, there are considerations such as handwriting speed, and how far behind they are- it is not an automatic right- each child is assessed.
You can find out all you need from the BDA- British Dyslexia Association.
