It isn't uncommon.
Home is where he senses he can 'relax' and all the behaviours come out. For neurotypical dc, their school day is broken up between learning in lessons, and then 'relaxing' at break, at playtimes, and sometimes in less formal lessons. For many children on the spectrum, the times when other dc are 'relaxing' is actually the most stressful time of the day. They not only have to continue to concentrate, but it will get harder than it is in lesson times, as lessons are more predictable than the chaos that is a few hundred children playing out in the playground. The stress and anxiety will often all be 'held in' at school, and then will come tumbling out once they get home and can't hold on any longer.

Honestly, this is better than the other way around.(I was told by an ABA consultant) Can you imagine?
