Hi, My 7yr old son has attended a specialist school for the last 2 years.. he has a diagnoses of asd & adhd. Up until September this year he's been thriving academically and his behaviour has been good.(one of the best behaved) Since starting back in September things have quickly gone down hill😕 with h being physically managed on a daily basis, constant phone calls home, and being asked to pick up early. He's physically and verbally abusive to staff(mainly when being held) he doesn't like it and finds it very distressing. I had a meeting today as the school are very concerned about the level of violence and restraints. The school suggested a reduced timetable (mornings only) which I'm really not happy about. i don't see how this is going to help my son? Has anyone ever heard of this happening in a specialist school? And is it legal?
Thanks😊

No, it's not legal and I've not heard of this in special school, only mainstream. Try contacting IPSEA for advice. They will advise and also if you need to put your concern in writing to the school, they will advise you on the correct wording with legal implications, etc. Sorry, only just noticed that your post was a month ago so hopefully you may have it sorted by now. Hope ds is faring better.Brew
