Lucid lass test and dyslexia

My 16 year old recently had a Lucid Lass test at school following some concerns voiced by a tutor . He scored highly on some of the test areas and above the level of concern on all sections . I still have some concerns as despite this he seems to have some red flags for dyslexia ( from what I've read ) . The school are not keen to take things further and I guess they know him best but I'm not sure if I should push for an assessment . Is it possible to score highly in this test and still have dyslexia . Does anyone have a teenager diagnosed late because they were high functioning . Thanks for any advice

Yes. Many people don't get diagnosed until much later in life at Uni or even in adulthood. Red flags on the Lucid test would be where a person scores very highly in some areas and disproportionately low in others. They call this a 'spiky' profile and is a indicator of the need for further testing. Schools often don't want to or can't take this further due to prioritising worse cases and lack of funding. You can employ an Educational Psychologist yourself to get a diagnosis. Benefits of doing this would be maybe extra time in exams, the use of a reader or a laptop in exams or just a greater understanding from teachers. It can also do the world of good for a teenager's self-esteem when they are finally diagnosed because they may have felt 'stupid' or different from their peers and need to work 10 times harder to achieve in exams. How does your son feel?
