Exclusion

My DGS has been permanently excluded after behaviour out of school when he was perceived to be threatening (reasonable conclusion). Turns out CAMHS think he's autistic but didn't push for statement as he seemed to be coping. Was frightened and anxious, behaviour was a reaction to fear. Would appreciate advice on what to do re doing best to get him back in school.
Thank you

If you want him to go back to that school, use your right to make representations to the governors, and produce evidence of the CAMHS diagnosis and the effect of autism on your son's actions. Contact the School Exclusion Project or the Communities Empowerment Network for help with that.

By law, your son must be in full time education from the 6th day after the exclusion. If that hasn't been arranged, contact your local authority as a matter of urgency and push for it; if necessary, threaten them with judicial review if they don't arrange it. You can of course also search around for local schools with vacancies: if they have a vacancy, they aren't allowed to refuse to take your child.
