Some of you may know about the problems we have had with ds but to sum up he started school in sept 2004 and had such bad problems that he was excluded 3 times in as many months

He wasn't allowed to go to the xmas party or be in their nativity play which made me very and - especially as I still needed to go and watch dd in it

Today (in his new school) I have just watched him in a performance of Joseph and his Technicolour Dreamcoat and he was FANTASTIC. He was in it several times, knew all the actions in the dances and all the words to the songs. I am so so proud of him.

He added a few of his own special bits of course but that just added to it and IMO he stole the show Parents were coming up to me afterwards and saying how brilliant he was

This morning he had me in tears because he has been such hard work at home at the moment and now I am sitting here crying with happiness and pride. He has come such a long way in 2 years that i can hardly believe it.

Sorry I know its a long post but I'm just bursting with pride and most people I knwo won't understand why it means so much but I know you will

Awww that's lovely. Well done to both of you.

That's fantastic !!!

How long has he been in the new school ?

What have they done to help/support him differently to the old school ?

MrsPhilipGlenister · 09/03/2007 15:20

That is wonderful, amynnixmum!

He started the new school from reception in sept 2005 as the LEA agreed to backyear him. He has f/t 1:1 support there which he wouldn't get without a statement but even without this I know this school would have done better than his old one. The head at his old school just saw him as a problem to be rid of and the SENCo didn't seem to have a clue. No-one seemed to have any respect in my opinions and they refused to change strategies that were clearly not only not working but actually making things worse.

His new school are great and they really care about him. they bend over backwards to help him and support him. 2 years ago we were looking at specialist EBD schools as things had got so bad but at his new school he is doing so well that this sept he is going to skip year 2 and go straight into his natural year group of yr3.

It's one of the things I'm so looking forward to as a Mum, watching DS in a school play, I had a bit of a lump in my throat reading your post.
Will you be having a special celebration tea?

amynnixmum · 09/03/2007 16:05

Just told him we are getting Domino pizza for tea and he's running around like a loony with excitment.

He's so funny - he can't take complimenst at all and when his Dad spoke to him on the phone just now to tell him well done he got all embarrassed
