the pros and cons of extra time when sitting entrance exams

Hi
My daughter is sitting the entrance exams for 2 (very!) academically selective schools in January. she does have an Ed Psych report and is dyslexic. She has not had many time concessions made throughout Juniors and still comes above class average in exams.

I feel that we should have perhaps not disclosed her Ed psych reports and just let her sit the exams without flagging this up, I've heard a couple of people I know allude the fact that her dyslexia may make her a less attractive candidate because she has asked for extra time?

I think I'm just wanting to see if anyone has experience of a child with SEN in a very academic fast paced environment and am starting to panic about January exams.

Thank you

The school will ultimately want her to give them a good set of exam results to sell to other parents. If she is likely to achieve this (with extra time if she is entitled to it) then it shouldn't matter if she has extra time in the entrance exam. The real question is will the school be a good environment for her and support her in the intervening years?

Yes I think you are right, the question is will the support be there or will there be immense pressure on her if she manages to get in. We have found that because she is academically able that in Junior's her teachers 'forget' that they may have to repeat instructions or that she is disorganised.

Thank you
