Can anyone advise me on a few titles of novels for a 13 year old girl who has recently been picked up for dyslexia? Her confidence is shot to bits and I think her work ethic to start with was poor in school. I want to get her a book that will keep her hooked, but one that's also dyslexia friendly.

Advice please!

Try Barrington Stoke books, they are specially put together for readers with dyslexia. They are quite short stories, so good for building confidence. They have different ranges for different ages, including teenagers.

How about auditory books? They mean she can access what everyone else is reading.

What about graphic novels? DS1 is severely dyslexic and consumes these in vast quantities. I have learnt all about the Japanese graphic novel market as a consequence. There are wonderful books out there. Anime (the film version of Manga) has lots of girl protagonists - might be a way in.

There is also a book about being dyslexic - can't for the life of me remember the title. Will go look for it.

Barricades, thank you, wouldn't mind getting that.

Dyslexic DS 14 has recently got into Manga books - he loves them, re-reads them and hassles to be bought more of them. He also likes audio books. As for regular books - no chance!
