I think she might be dyslexic...what next?

My almost seven year old isn't making the progress I would expect at school although she tries hard.

My mum suspects dyslexia and the symptoms seem to fit eg she can't recite her alphabet perfectly still, mixes up left and right, can't repeat a sequence of 4 short instructions etc

She is not bad enough in class (yet) for the teacher to suggest she needs help - but I would like to get a diagnosis as to whether or not she has dyslexia.

Do I get her screened privately? And if she has a mild to moderate problem will she get support from her school, or will I have to look elsewhere for help?

Any advice appreciated

my son is 7, and a really good reader, he is also at the top of his class for literacy and numeracy. But he writes lots of his letters back to front, and also his numbers. His teacher told me it needs sorting out. She said he may be dyslexic! I said he surely can't be, because he reads so well, and she said 'they sometimes do...' (as per lilymae message)
He has already been assessed for dyxpraxia, and just 'passed' which shows that he can concentrate and succeed when he want to - he trips up a lot, and is generally 'all over the place'.. He is hyperactive, and receives 'physio' every couple of months for coordination.
Since he has broken up from school, he has been so teary, and upset, but I don't know why..needs the routine?
