Has anyone had the same problems with their local authority

Hi, please forgive the ambiguous nondeplume as we are still fighting our local education authority tooth and nail (it has been at least nine years) we feel that its best not to name names etc (yet).

Has anyone else found that local education authorities, schools, health and even social services (when the child is recognised as disabled) all do their best to avoid doing anything unless you push them into legally unavoidable situations.

Some of our exploits with diagnosis can be seen at bloodyprofessionals.blogspot.com/ but this is to save time typing them all here (like we have enough to do).

Are we alone, or is it a problem across the UK?

Yours

PT

Firstly, no you are not alone.

Secondly, you'll get more of an 'audience' on the Children SN Board as there is way more traffic there.

Yes, I always feel like someone from the LEA is like one of the Vampires from the Volturi, if you are a Twilight fan you will get what I mean.

We are currently going to tribunal to get amendments to statement to make it possible to enforce it. Just had LEA repsonse saying they had not had our requested amendments. SO NOT TRUE. Its like a game of chess.

Hi i have had a years battle with health authority, social services and the lea. i have threatend them all with legal action to try to help my daughter.
i have also asked for help from are local MP; all without success as they all sit on the fence between what is lawful and not doing anything for my daughter whom should have been at school studying for her GCSEs.
She has been at home on my settee, socially isolated and without an education since last september because the NHS can not supply a suitable wheelchair, which is impossible for us to afford. help of a carer to help her at school and home and an education because of her condition fluctuates on a daily bases. They do not offer flexable teaching between home and school. both the school and social services have suggested she is signed unfit for school in order to access home schooling on a full time bases. however not one of them have said how many hours they will give her if any at all?
My daughter has Complex regional pain syndrome and dispite suffering severe pain in her legs and hands all she wants to do is go to school and see her friends. i can not believe this day and age children in a third world country can access an education and children in this country are being denied for what ever reason. if i was to keep her off school i would end up in court and in jail but yet the NHS, the LEA and Social services are ALL getting away with it.

thanks, i will look at the other board. for angelsfly, we do understand, whilst our daughters needs are different, it is frustrating that we seem to have to fight for everything
