Dear parents,

I am an experienced, qualified and CRB checked teacher who is currently studying with 'Dyslexia Action' for a postgraduate diploma in dyslexia and literacy. Part of my course is specialist practical teaching which involves assessment, planning an individual teaching programme and carrying it out with an adult learner (16+ years).

I am trying to find an adult learner who is dyslexic or would like to improve their literacy skills within the Wirral or Northwest Cheshire who would

  1. Allow me to assess them (this has to videoed in order that my tutor who is based in London can verify I have completed the assessments correctly).

  2. Be willing to have specialist lessons for 8 weeks each lesson 90 minutes (- the last lesson would need to be videoed for my tutor).

  3. Be willing to work with me from the beginning of May for a period of 10 to 12 weeks.

A large percentage of the lesson would involve using the literacy computer programme 'Units of Sound' and would also include sequencing, reading, writing and study or work skills that the learner would benefit from in their studies and/or future/present job.

Have you tried asking at your local college or university? They may have students who would be happy to receive additional support.

Good luck with the course. I completed the AMBDA in 2004 and love my 'job'.
