can anyone please recommend a boarding school for our lovely son who has dyslexia, he has been getting extra help at his prep school but the senior school attached to this prep is not in the lest sen friendly, ie. he will have to do at least one foreign language even though english is hard enough! etc etc we are looking norfolk/suffolk/cambridgeshire/lincs, he is fantastic at sports (thank goodness) but anything academic is an ongoing struggle, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Annie, I suggest you look at all the options -boarding school is only one of them:

Seems a shame he would have to go away. I am in Scotland wit DS2 age 13 who has severe problems. His (state) school has been marvellous.
Instead of French he gets learning support. They are suggesting at least 2 columns free on his options form to allow for support with coursework next year. DS is fab at computing, very good at maths and has amazing current affairs knowledge. I have no doubt he will do well in life, he is so interested in anyone and anything. Glad he will be able to concentrate on his strengths and not get over tired.
Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

One of my DDs very dyslexic friends goes to Bearwood College and her mum thinks very highly of the school.

We are in suffolk and ds goes to Centre academy (East Anglia). It is very small though and not for a sporty boy,for a bigger enviroment I would try Langley, although i have heard they are cutting down on SEN,St Josephs in Ipswich although not many boarders.,or Friends at Saffron Walden. If you are happy to go further afield ds has friends at Frewen in Kent,Kingham Hill and Milton Abbey and Shiplake and also Moore House in Surrey .I have also heard quite good reports of Stanbrige Earl.
