Want something pronounceable but still recognisable as half brown. Any ideas? x

I'm "English name" Parveen which no one struggles to pronounce or spell

magma32 · 23/05/2023 15:08

Anoushka is my favourite. Was going to go for this one (as a Pakistani!) but we ended up having a boy!

SiouxsieSiouxStiletto · 10/06/2023 20:07

Priya. I love the meaning.

JeandeServiette · 10/06/2023 20:17

I was at school with a Hindu girl named Sabrina.

Anoushka
Anya
Maya
Natasha
Tara

Those are lovely names and fit the bill. Several of those have dual derivations don't they?

Penguinsmum · 10/06/2023 20:22

orangeblosssom · 07/10/2023 07:09

Sahara
Sienna

@Br0wnMummy
The problem is that I'm not sure how many of these names will sound properly pronounced so it's hard to comment. I do love Asha and Priya though!

But please-under no circumstances-use Priti!

orangeblosssom · 08/10/2023 11:21

No to Suella as well

No to Suella as well

😂

SiouxsieSiouxStiletto · 08/10/2023 15:44

I think the DD is likely to be coming up to one now. Let's hope the OP didn't go with Suella Wink

Redpaisley · 08/11/2023 06:37

Op, don't name Avantika. Be fair to your husband. Father and that side of family will have hard time calling that name.

Use a name which does not have so many syllables.

I think Tara is a beautiful name from all aspects - If anyone asks the meaning, she will say, she is a star 🌟
It is easy to remember and pronounce but still has connection to your culture.

I also dont like Arya. It has racial connotations, even if you shrug that off, the reality is your daughter will grow up and live in Europe, not in India.

JustAMinutePleass · 08/11/2023 16:32

I like Siya.

Jasmin1971 · 08/11/2023 17:11

My cousin in law is Rosina, her English relatives call her Rosie

MyAzureUser · 29/09/2024 11:57

We have a lot of half Indian/half English babies in our family.

We have a Zara, Jaya, Divya, Uma and Naina.

I think they are a bit generic. We are Punjabi and I would like to have a bit more of an aunthentic name. Instead of a name that is just ethnic enough if you know what I mean.
