Hello everyone I'm new here just after some advice so my son is 5 years old he has very complex needs and very high anxiety levels and sensory processing disorder and a lot of autistic traits he really struggles has terrible nightmares sweats shaking etc he hates school do you guys think I am pushing him to go to mainstream school when he hates it so much and clings to me and crys won't line up with the other children etc and often misses school so what are your views on home tutoring?? the only thing I worry about is social side of things as we don't know many people only family all views and comments would be much appreciated

Hi Op just read your post. I have a child with complex needs too and it took me a lot of courage to decide on what you having to go through at the moment. Listen to professional advice from therapists and consultants but ultimately you will know your child best, sometimes things needs time so allow yourself that too. Wish you and your son all best

We home educate. It is without a doubt the best thing for my child. Of course every child is different and school can be good for many children too - it’s an individual decision and depends on your child and their needs, what school can provide, and what you’re able to provide in terms of time etc. In terms of social side - the home educating community has a lot of groups and events, plenty of opportunities for quality socialising and making friends. Facebook is usually a good place to start to find your local group and ask some questions. As pp says, give yourself time. Hope this helps - happy to answer any questions.
