If I had a full time job until June then self employed within that same tax year, how can I calculate what I owe in tax considering the 12,570 personal allowance? Would the employer have used 12,570/12x2?

You would submit a tax return and any income not from PAYE and above your personal allowance will be taxed. UK has different tax rates, so depends if you're in Scotland or England. You only had 25% of your salary April - June and. That would have been taxed at source, so you're paying tax for SE earnings June- March
