Business idea for baby subscription box..any good?

Hello

I was wondering if I could get feedback for a business idea I had. I am a new mum and something I have found frustrating is having to buy so many clothes and products from different places as my son grows and starts needing new clothes/feeding equipment/toys/books etc. as well as having to research for the best things.

I know there are different subscription boxes and baby clothing rentals out there...but my idea is to provide boxes every few months with all necessary items. E.g if the baby is turning 6 months old then provide a box containing 6-9month clothing (and all appropriate for the weather) as well as weaning plates/cups/storage containers, appropriate toys and books. All products would be well researched. And wouldn't it be great if this was all eco friendly?

Does anything like this exist? Would anyone subscribe to something like that?

it sounds lovely in theory but it isn’t going to work. Kids don’t all grow at the same rate so lots of people are buying clothes in larger or smaller sizes whilst still needing the plates and cups etc. There also really isn’t all that much stuff you need at each stage which could be covered by a generic subscription box. Things like clothes, books choices etc are quite personal. And you pick bits up as you go, or are given gifts. It’s just an unnecessary thing, to have someone send you some random sleepsuits and some Ikea plates.

I quite liked buying all that baby stuff personally. It gave me something to do on maternity leave. We have had toy/book subscriptions in the past which worked better.

I wouldn’t have wanted this , half the fun of having a baby is shopping for stuff I really wouldn’t want someone just delivering their choice .

It wouldn’t appeal to me because I didn’t really buy new clothes (got lots of gifts / hand me downs).

But it sounds like something that could be great to market as a gift, for a short subscription of like 3 months or something. Maybe with fancy creams, massage oils etc.

I used to get a subscription box called Sassy Bloom. This was 6 years ago so not sure if it still exists. I really liked it but after about 6 months the contents started to repeat

I don’t think you’d get the numbers you’d need sorry. I’ve seen kids clothing rentals - not sure how profitable they are but probably better as a separate services given size / style / seasonal variations. And there was a babies toys / toiletries / books etc subscription called Little Fawn Box which had to fold after a couple of years. The Loveevery toys one seems to be doing well, so something narrower might work better than a box that tries to do everything.

In Scotland you can get a free baby box from the government which has lots of things to do your baby from birth to 6 months, including some basic clothes.
