Mobile catering

Just in the process of the start up of my mobile catering business. We will be selling pizzas and cakes from a catering trailer.

My only dilemma is; my stock (pizza dough, toppings, ingredients and cakes) will have to be stored in my home (I have a pantry for this and separate fridge for the chilled items) and I will be baking the cakes from home.

Will I need to declare to my mortgage company and insurance that I am baking the cakes from home and storing the ingredients even though they won’t actually be sold from there (no customers will come into contact with my home)?

Obviously I’m fully insured business wise, taken and passed my food safety course and just registered the business with the council with my home address as it’s mobile so can start trading in the next 28 days.

Other option is to buy in the cakes from wholesale but I’d still have to store them in my home like the pizza ingredients before sale, will I still have to declare this to my mortgage and home insurance?

Thank you for your time.

Yes this needs to be declared as it is business use. Depending on the value of stock and how risky they deem the cooking to be, your home insurer may ask you to accept specific terms or they may not cover you at all, so best to check.
