Hello!

I’m currently in the sample stages of founding my e-commerce business. Don’t want to share too much - but think luxury/premium eco conscious pjs/loungewear/underwear - home wear sort of thing. Slow fashion and consuming are part of the branding too.

I’d say the price point is high end high street - so around £50-£100+ depending on item.

my question is: would you be more likely to purchase if it was gift boxed, a bit like a designer purchase would be? I ask because it adds a lot cost wise - likely just under £5 per item, and obviously a little extra time packing it all. Not sure if it’s a dead cost or would help sales/recommendations etc? And obviously help to justify the higher price point than say your usual fast fashion retailers.

Thanks!

If you are eco conscious I think a gift box would actually put me off.
It’s so unnecessary.
Some nice, maybe printed, recyclable/compostable paper wrap held together with paper tape would entice me more.

Home compostable packaging would be good,

A fancy gift box is just something else to dispose of

I was going to say pretty much this also.

Great feedback thank you - yes I think you’re right - maybe just a recyclable mailer and some lovely printed tissue/ribbon or such!

Also, the cost of manufacturing in the UK is about 5x that of overseas. To try and negate the eco impact of shipping in I’d be doing small batches so less waste, with eco friendly fabric. Or would you pay a (significant!) premium for something made in the UK?

sorry, so many questions!

maybe I could offer a gift box as a paid extra for those gifting?
