Hello, I have an Etsy ‘hobby’ selling prints, portraits ets. I’d like to turn it into more of a business but am continually facing mental blocks. I’m scared of getting my work out there, I’m scared of Instagram etc etc.
I’ve now got myself in a muddle with 2 shops. One was to start off with, and is where I experiment. I had a product on there that seemed to do ok so I opened a website for it. With a different name, thinking I could have a ‘ proper’ website.Doh! Now of course I need to somehow get all those lovely Etsy reviews and traction on to my website, or back to my Etsy. So confused! Doesn’t help that Dp barges in and tells me I’m not getting anywhere and to give up.
I thought I’d do this as a way of learning about digital marketing.so I could find work. Don’t know what I’m typing really, just need to hear a supportive voice!

You need a coach! That's what I do professionally - mindset coaching should help you

Stop calling it a hobby for starters. It isn't a hobby, it is a business. You making and selling for profit, that isn't the definition of a hobby. If you start calling it a business, you will start treating it like a business.
First things first, are you meeting all of your legal obligations such as Consumer Contract Regulations, registration with HMRC as self employed if you are turning over more than £1000 in a tax year. Do you keep accounts to see what you earning and spending, and do you have a business account? All of these things will make you feel (and some of them look to potential customers) more professional.
I remember when I set up my own website nearly ten years ago and I was thinking "gosh this is actually serious now". In hindsight, I wouldn't have set up my website as early as I did. It requires advertising, and paid advertising at that, to get it out there. In your shoes I would stick with Etsy and there is also Folksy, the UK Etsy. Read the forums on these sites for how to build your business, and that starts with making sure your listings and photos are spot on.
I don't think you need mindset training, you need business training and a plan in place for next steps. You can get some of this online, or you can ask a business coach, but I have not found any that offer relevant advice for those within craft and handmade who actually have been there and done that. I do offer business coaching as a bit of a sideline to running my business so get in touch if you need more help, but what I've given you above should get you started.

That’s amazing, thanks guys. I’ve just found a women in business course on the govt website, so I’m now doing the worksheets for that. I’d love a bit o coaching, but at the mo have no money for that. Hope to have soon. Thank you Delilahbucket for the starter tips.
Got me a big sheet of paper and will brainstorm myself this afternoon. Thanks for folksy, I hadn’t thought about them. And yes, I think you may well be right abou the website.
Thanks so much, i get into a rabbit in the headlights panic mindset and achieve nothing. So nice to hear friendly voices!
