Can stay at home moms start businesses?

As a single mom, I've had a lot of problems trying to find a job that pays enough to support 2 kids, pay for daycare, cover expenses when I need to take sick leave... The thing is, when you work for a corporation. you cannot get sick.

You can't take family leave or the like without risking losing your job forever. They always say they can hire someone who can "commit to the cause". However, this has nothing to do with your abilities. This is how the labor market works these days. This is very biased towards mothers and especially single mothers.

I admit that the idea of starting my own business as a mom who has to manage all aspects of it, besides taking care of my kids… it was quite intimidating. In truth, it's actually more manageable on a personal level. It's definitely less stressful than when I spent 8 hours at the office plus overtime and then was too exhausted to give my kids what they needed.

And here my problem begins, I do not know where to start. I used to draw a lot and even took courses in fashion design, and the skills are still with me, so I'm thinking of starting with dropshipping (clothes and various accessories). If possible, I will start my own small business.

Are you in the US Jujely?

Depends what your goal is. Full time income while juggling full time childcare? Absolutely not. Little bit of extra spending money? Yes this is possible. Dropshipping is not the best way to go though, you are reliant on someone else for providing so much to your customers and you have no control over it. You would need a very reputable company to work with that no one else is using either of you are going to be competing for pennies (or cents in your case as I'm guessing you are in the US). Without any knowledge, this will be like finding a needle in a haystack.
I would say stick to what you know and are good at. The best businesses build on existing skillsets.
