My DS like lots of teenagers is an avid gamer but unlike others he has escalated his participation to coaching others. He plays a particular role play game where there are opportunities to get promoted and therefore take on responsibility for promoting others . He is 16 and when I overhear his coaching advice and the way he offers guidance and gives clear instructions I can't help but be impressed. I want to guide him in where to take his talents in the real world but I have no clue where to start. I am sure that somebody is benefiting financially from his endeavour but he insists that it is all free and no money is exchanged but that makes no sense to me. Is there a way that he could take this hobby further and see if it leads to actual work?!

I have seen someone offering this type of service on Facebook and charging for it. He'll need to offer for free to begin with in exchange for reviews to get his profile up and running. If he is teaching children he'll need a DBS check, despite being under 18 himself.

Why can't it just be a hobby? Monetising hobbies tends to kill your enjoyment of the ex-hobby. It's important to have activities in our life that we do purely for pleasure not just for work etc. Gaining transferable skills along the way is the payout.

He can use coaching skills in many future careers. Pretty much any career that requires supervision and management of people, not just outright training/education roles.

The companies that make the games and run tournaments make money, but it's not unusual to have communities of gamers who share skills and content for free. In those communities the free exchange is actually quite an important part of the culture, so it's likely trying to charge people would go down badly.
