Manduca or Boba???

HI,

I am looking for a soft baby carrier to use to carry my 1 year old on my back. I currently use a mixture of the Moby wrap and the baby bjorn. Both the Manduca and the Boba look like what I am after. The Manduca seems to have lots of reviews but as the Boba is newer it has less feedback but it looks fab on the website www.bobababycarrier.com/index.php?page=boba-features
and compares really favourably against the Ergo.
Any thoughts and advise?
Thanks
Rosey

Not tried the Boba or Manduca. The Ergo is good and distributes weight well. You just need to get the hang of putting it on your back which is a little tricky at first. For us, though, the Scootababy won hands down as DS sits to the side, not on my back, so we can talk more and he gets a better view. Really easy to use too. Depends how far you'll be walking though.

Hi,

Quite a bit - she doesn't like the pushchair!! The manduca can also be worn on the hip but the boba has foot loops so am torn!!

Ah, yes the pushchair-phobia. I know it well! You definitely need to try them first if you can - is there a local sling group you could go to? Otherwise, bit cheeky but buy them online and then you can always change your mind and return them under the distance selling regs.

There is a really good review of the Boba here with loads of angles covered and comparisons to other carriers etc - they say it is more comfortable than the Patapum, I have a Patapum and find it fantastic (have tried an Ergo and it's miles better than that) - so I think the Boba has to be a good bet. I love the colours too

Sleepy Nico are good and have a sleep hood which is really easy to use. It's made in the UK, reasonably priced and they have lots of pretty designs. I carry my 10 mth old and my 2 and a half year old in it easily - not at the same time, I'm not sure that carrier has been made yet!

I have a Boba and I love it! Especially in a back carry. And DH uses it too DS is 15 months old and quite heavy! But he is very quite when in then sling so I think its comfortable for him too.

have borrowed a manduca. I found it a bugger to get the baby in without someone ot help me, but am told it gets better with practice. Once on it's fab. Comfy for me and babies (tried it with one yr old and two yr old - both sat comfortably in it for a long while)
Seemed to distribute the weight well - the hip band is good, like a rucksack's.
HAven't tried any others so don't know how it compares tho.

I just recommended this site to someone for a Connecta but they also have Boba... you can try carriers from them and they give the money to SANDS. I used them when I wasn't sure whether I wanted a solarweave or not and fab service.

i've just hired a boba from petit poppet (they donate the hire free to charity) but it wasn't quite right for me.

lovely soft material, comfy waistband and nice long back but i had a problem with the padded shoulder straps: they were set so far apart that they felt in danger of slipping off (it is an american company, if that makes a difference).

i compared it with a friend's ergo and the shoulder straps were much farther apart on the boba. ergo has a much shorter back but i liked the pocket for your bits and bobs. she really liked the boba because the material was a lot softer and less bulky.

so back to the drawing board then ...

Hire free? i meant hire fee ...
(oh and i have a long 11-month-old)
