I have a Bjorn that we used for DD1 but only really used it when she was older but now i have DD2 (3weeks) she doesnt seem very snug in it and her head is abit floppy in it. DD1 is only 22mths so need my hands free more!

Getting abit confused by all the differnt types of slings and wraps but think a sling would be better for me than a wrap.

I need something quick and easy to use for now untill DD is older than can use the bjorn.

Ebay has Freedom slings which look ok.... any reviews/advice anyone?

Handy where-to-buy guide here:

for new and second hand.
Freedom slings look good, better than BabaSlings I should think, if you're sure a one-shoulder sling is what will suit you. (Can't give better advice because I prefer two-houldered carries with wraps, but hope someone will be along soon. Could you get to a slingmeet (see www.slingmeet.co.uk to try some different ones out in person?

I had a ring sling and I liked it, but DS was 9lb7oz and got bigger quick so he wasn't in it for long.

I found it to be nice and secure and adjustable etc, and felt he was safe in it.

I'm not much use I'm afraid I didn't have sling collection

Definitely a ring sling over a Babasling. Much more adjustable and comfortable.
I love wrap slings but have got a ring sling for DS2 to use in addition to my wraps/mei tai as it is quicker to get on and off if you have a screaming baby and a demanding toddler.
I've not tried a Freedom Sling so can't comment on that.

I used a baba sling from 1 month to 6 months with DD2 and loved it. Used it all the time even for day trips out. Used it less after that (esp when breast feeding stopped) but still found it great if just wanting to pop her in and run / short trips.

I used a ring sling (huggababy) from 6mths/12lb right up to toddler, now and again. Didn't have anything to compare it to but I got on OK.

I hated my babasling, it sits on your neck rather than your shoulder and it really uncomfortable. DS is now 3 stone and I still carry him in a ring sling at times.

Neither of them- I would go for the Ergo everytime.

  • You can use it from birth up to age 3/4 years.

  • You can carry your LO on your front, side or back.

  • It transfers all the weight to your pelvis so you can walk for iles and not feel the weight or get aching shoulders.

  • It is light-weight and durable.

  • Great for clingy toddlers if you want to get the housework done.

  • LO can fall asleep in it comfortably.
