When can you put baby astride your body in a wrap

I have a 2 month old who I have been cradling in my wrap but he now seems to want to stretch his legs out more. At what age can I have him up right with his legs either side of my body. I seem to remember when researching this for my first born that there is a concern about damaging their hips if you open them up too early when carrying them. I also have a mai tei which I haven;t usded with him yet ( I used it more as a back carrier for my first born) but may use it to carry on the front. At this age could I have his legs daggling out either side? Hope this makes sense to someone. Thanks

You can wrap from newborn in an upright position (facing you) with legs in a "frog" position, so go ahead! My DS never liked cradle holds, so we did this from the off.

Lots of info, videos and instructions on www.slingguide.co.uk

With your MT, it sort of depends on the size. If you want to have his legs out but the width of the panel is a bit bigger than his kneepit-to-kneepit length, you could try cinching the panel in a bit with a ribbon? Maybe better to wait a bit though. Hope someone more knowledgeable about MTs will be along

Thank you Puddock for your response. I think it is the frog position I feel he is growing out of, or rather he doesn't seem to tolerate it for as long so thought I might try him with legs straightened which has led to my query. Pity as I love their little curled up cuddles!! ALso thanks for the link, I shall indulge in that later and see what I can find.
