Not getting on with MT - will I like a connecta?

I need something for back carries over a fair distance - i.e. 1 hour + walks for DD (12 months)

I have a babyhawk mei tai which I find ok for front carries but never seem to be comfy when I put her on my back - the straps seem to fall off my shoulders & she never seems to be very secure & manages to get her arms out of the top iyswim?

Have been looking at SSC & can't really decide - will a connecta offer any advantages over the mei tei? I like the idea of not having straps trailing behind me as I try to put it on but is it easy to adjust?

The ergo seems so expensive but I don't mind paying if it's going to be amazing.

Patapum - not sure whether I'd get the baby or toddler - DD is tiny - still in 6-9 month clothes

Any others?

I have found that the straps slip off my shoulders on the Ergo too. I've started using my BH with a chest strap and that has made a big difference.

Bear in mind that the Ergo is quite a short carrier so she will be able to lean back more which will add to the feeling of insecurity.

Ok- no to the ergo then - phew on behalf of my bank balance

Yes - will try to get to a sling meet. I think part of it is vanity - I'm not keen on looking trussed up like a turkey with the mei tai either when I cross the straps over or tie them tibetan

  • negligible norkage here but glad you share my trussed up experience!
Have found a sling meet near me on Thurs so hopefully I can get some ideas there. Doesn't sound like I'm going to find the holy grail of carriers though

but yes -still better than a pushchair
