Got a calin bleu but for a newborn do I need....

Got given a calin bleu, but have read that to begin with it's better to have a stretchy wrap, the calin bleu one is not stretchy.

Can anyone advise? Somebody has asked me what I wanted for a gift and was going to ask for a stretchy wrap if recommended!

Other consideration is I will be having a c-section and wondered if the stretchy wrap would be more comfy in the beginning? Anybody got any advice or is the calin bleu fine from the start?

TIA

calin bleu is absolutely fine for a newborn

stretchy wraps are good simply because they're very soft, and they're a little bit easier to use than a woven wrap but all that means is it may take a bit more practise in wrapping it!

when is your baby due? i loved my stretchy wrap (a moby) with ds2, but hardly used it with ds3 because he was born in june and it was way too hot

Never used a calin bleu so im not sure on them but i used a close sling from newborn to 10mth, stretchy and v easy to use, i used it all through summer and winter..
Good luck

I would stick with the CB. Its getting warmer and a moby etc can get too hot in good weather
THe CB just takes a bit more practice thats all

Hi, congrats on bump!

Haven't spotted any answers to the c-sec aspect of your question (apologies if anyone has answered and I didn't notice)

There are people here who will know, but they don't seem to have come along yet!

I found that the RS that happened to be my only sling at first, was fine after my EMCS (hadn't occured to me to consider the issue, wasn't expecting a c-sec!).

If I were in that position again then I suppose I might consider using an RS (though I prefer a two-shoulder carry), or a wrap tied rebozo-style, or possibly there are other ways of tying a wrap that avoid the waist (I'm sure someone will know- I'm no wrapper).

It might be worth posting in whatever is the c-section section of NMs ('scuse pun)

Also, a similar question was asked and answered on the NCT-caesarean yahoo group a few months ago - might be worth a look

Good luck and congrats

Oh sorry very distracted, meant MNs not NMs, i.e. this forum

llandb · 21/03/2010 21:10

In case you're interested, couldn't find link with google so here it is: NCT-caesarean (I believe you need a yahoo group to join, probably everyone except me knows this already)

Members on all points of spectrum wrt stance on c-sec

Three posts in a row is enough, so will run away back to my sewing now
