Why is it so hard to find a shop that sells slings?!

I'm looking to buy a sling for DC2 who's due soon but I'm having real difficulty deciding what sling.

I fancy a wrap sling like the Moby or Kari-Me but I'm slightly worried that it'll be far too much of a faff tying it up (I'll have a rampaging 21 month old as well) and I'll end up wishing that I'd got something that you just put straight on. However I then worry (in the loosest sense of the word!) that they won't be as comfy for a new born and I'll end up wishing that I'd got a wrap sling.

Basically, I'm dithering and I'd like to go in a shop or meet someone and see a range of slings to decide which one I like but for some reason nowhere seems to stock slings!

Anyone know of anywhere in York/Leeds vicinity (or alternatively near Northampton) that sells slings? Surely there must be somewhere?!

Possibly should have changed my nickname to slingdithering now!

Ergo- It's the best!

Lasts from birth until 3-4yeasr and it is sooo comfy. I've got one and it's the best money I've ever spent.

DS is 17mths now and he loves to go on my back. I can walk around for hours with him on my back, getting on with the housework or generally popping into town. You can use it on your front, side or back, it is so versatile, lightweight and really easy to use. You can use it on your front from birth with the newborn insert.

I've bought a few slings/wraps in my time and this is by far the best. Did I tell you it's the best?

See, personally I really didn't like the Ergo !

The best way to try slings is to get along to a SlingMeet, then you can try lots of slings on, see how they fit you, get help in tying them, then go and buy one second hand on UKBabywearingSwap, so that if you don't like it you haven't lost much.

With the Moby, you tie it at the beginning of the day, then can pop baby in and out - plus nice and secure when running after a toddler. With the simple to get in slings, they tend not to be so hands free when in

www.baba-licious.org.uk/ would be great for slings. They are in Hebden Bridge - they will sort you out with a personal demo I believe... give them a ring

I cant comment on other slings particularly, but I do LOVE my Ergo.

Oooh...Baba-licious sounds just what I'm looking for and I like a nice trip to Hebden Bridge so I can combine the two! Thanks very much for the tip.

There's also Baby Bean - www.baby-bean.com who is in Cowling, near Skipton and can do demonstrations/shopping appointments.
