ring sling or mei tai?

Help me unscramble my brain please!

I used a baby bjorn last time and was fine with it, but DD was small and I could not use it from newborn, also I want to try something different.

baba sling/similar or mei tai, or other? I like both the ring slings and the mei tai.

I have an active 3 year old to run around after/give attention to as well. I would like to either be able to bf with it, or take it off and put it on again easily in order to bf. I would like to use it around the house to soothe baby/get baby to sleep/do housework etc.

I am small framed, not intending on a cs (but who knows what the future holds) have no back problems.

Will I need 2? I have forfieted the choice of pushchair in order to get any sling/carrier I want, DH said if I need 2 I can get 2 (he is getting the pushchair of his choice as he will not use the sling)

I wanted to try one of each so I got a pouch, a ring sling, a mei tai, a soft structured carrier and a woven wrap (it was too late for a stretchy one).

Now I have a pouch, two woven wraps, and umm, several mei tais and soft structured carriers.

The cheaper than a pushchair argument doesn't wash any more.

What mei tais, Pavlov? I love vicarious shopping!

PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 30/08/2009 22:51

moomin That is just how I feel - best try them all, just in case! I think DH is now thinking he should have just decided to let me have a pushchair! (i don't really get on fantastically with pushchairs to be honest)

I've not tried them but I've just looked them up on www.thebabywearer.com/ and they have heaps of rave reviews.

Buying from the US can be expensive because of customs though, unless you are in the US, of course.

I will get a relative to buy for me and send it to me as a gift for the baby it is the least they can do seeing as I just sorted christmas out when they come to visit, and have saved them £100s!

Ah, smart thinking and virtue rewarded .

If you are interested in pouches my fleece one came from here

They are made to measure by a UK WAHM so you don't have the sizing problem of buying one off the shelf.

Hi Pavlov, just wanted to make sure you definitely don't want the ring sling as I'll probably put it on ebay today or tomorrow. No pressure as I don't think you do but just wanted to double check!

CMOTdibbler · 01/09/2009 14:29

If you buy second hand, you can def have all three - the Yahoo UKBabywearingSwap group is good for all three, and there is little risk as you can sell on if you decide you don't like them.

I used a ring sling with DS till he was 1, and used MeiTais after that and am still carrying him at 3.3
