Baby carrier recommendations

I am on the lookout for a new baby carrier and would welcome any recommendations if possible. I have a budget of about £100 but am happy to buy second hand. I'd like to be able to use it from newborn until perhaps around 1 year old (baby is due in November so will be winter initially), would like to use inside our house whilst doing jobs etc and also outside, and don't want a wrap one (need to keep my life as simple as possible). Oh and would be great if it cleans fairly easily in case of vomiting etc. Thanks in advance.

If you don't want a warp, I do think for newborns stretchy wraps are the best. I would go for a mei tai. They are pretty simple and supportive.

Thanks @LadyDanburysHat. I will look into those.

At that age I really liked my Infantino Flip, meets all your requirements and only £30 at Argos

I had a tula with youngest absolutely loved it, lots of nice designs and a buckle so easy to use but folds up small. I had a standard and believe they brought out a newborn one too. I sold it on 2nd hand for not much less than I paid for it.

Ds is 8 now though so things might have moved on in the baby carrying world but thought I would mention as it was great!

(I fell down a baby wearing hole and ended up with a wrap and a ring sling too, ring sling was good for quick ups in the house too, I'd bought it for a wedding as ds liked being up and it meant I wasn't wearing a "backpack" in pics)

I'd recommend borrowing some once the baby arrives and seeing what you get on with - lots of places have sling libraries or you could ask friends. I say this partly because I bought / was given / borrowed about twelve (genuinely) different ones and my daughter hated every single one of them. She never got used to being carried and it got to the point where she would scream if I even took one out of the cupboard!

(The flip side of this is she was very happy not being held, and would sit grinning at me from a bouncy chair from a very young age.)

I would look for one with good back support and get one that you can operate fully yourself without any assistance. I got a second hand babybjorn miracle carrier. They're discontinued now but you can get one 2nd hand for about £20-30. It's very sturdy and supportive and has worked really well for me.

I have a Tula free to grow. DS is 3 months and we love it!
really recommend the Facebook page ‘baby wearing uk’, loads of advice. Bear in mind that baby should generally be facing inwards, close enough to kiss.
Have a look for your local sling library too, you can borrow some and get a feel for them before you buy.
