Sling beginner.. where to start!?

I'm currently 23 weeks pregnant, expecting my first baby in January and the only product that I don't seem to have got my head around or decided which brand to buy is a sling. Now I know it may not suit me/baby's needs but I really want to give it a go. I have no idea where to start! There are so many out there and I have read so many reviews but I just seem to be even more confused. What do I need to consider? I expect my needs will change, but I'd like to use one from newborn, preferably one I can wear under coat/jackets with him being a winter baby, one that isn't too difficult to use. I'll want to use it inside and out and about. I'm also planning on breast-feeding, can baby feed whilst in the sling? Or should I be looking at a carrier rather than a sling? Would love to hear your thoughts!

hiya! i think everyone who gets into Slings starts in EXACTLY the same place! i know i did! :)

check out slingguide.co.uk they will show you all the different types of slings available and it will show you how to wear your little one safely. There is something out there for EVERYONE! the most popular are Stretchy wraps and woven wraps for newborns :)

there is a UK company called Joy and Joe Baby who sell both Stretchy wraps and woven wraps and they are made right here in the UK :) I work for Joy and Joe (but loved them before i got the job!) and if you 'like' their page on facebook (www.facebook.com/joyandjoebabywrapcarrier) or their chatter page then there are LOTS of people about who are happy to help :)

Good luck with finding something! xx

You need to get yourself to a sling library if possible, you'll be able to get loads of advice, have a play with things and once your baby is here borrow things for a couple of weeks to see how you get on with them.

I'm on my phone so can't link bit google uk doing libraries and you should find a full list.
