Using a Ring Sling for a Newborn

We have been trying various methods of using our ring sling for our newborn but whatever we do the baby looks uncomfortable/unsafe/etc

We are trying the below:

Do these actually work? How is the baby meant to lie?

Currently baby looks pretty awkward with chin into chest; and legs off centre to rest of body.

Real life support is much more useful for slinging - look on Facebook for a local sling library and there will be lots of people who can give you help taking into account your physique and your baby.
I was super nervous about putting DS in a stretchy wrap until shown in real life.

I would want a newborn high and upright on my chest rather than in a cradle carry. Have a look at the TICKS guidelines - you should be able to kiss the top of the baby's head. This photo is a good guide: sakurabloombabyslings.wordpress.com/category/baby-sling-tips-and-tricks/. The baby's spine is likely to look quite curved as s/he snuggles into you but you should be able to get a finger between chin and chest to ensure that the airway isn't compressed.

Well, I use a very comfy sling for my newborn, but it's not a ring sling :) For my a bit older baby I use sukkiri :) Looks nice and very easy to put on :)
