What fabric best for woven wrap?

I have a 100% cotton twill Storchenwiege which I detest as its just too thick for me to manage. I find the simple act of tying a knot almost impossibly difficult as the fabric is so stiff.
However, I'm still keen to have a woven wrap sling to carry my LO. Can anyone reccomend a sling / fabric combo suitable for year round use which is easier to tie? I was thinking of getting a Didymos but the sheer choice is bewilderingly large.

Storchenwiege are notoriously difficult to 'break in'. Tie it in knots, twist it, steam iron it (a lot) and it will be a heap better. But I'm sure they have put plenty of people off woven wraps before now, as they are so beastly thick when new.

For beginners I really like Dolcino wraps....still 100% cotton twill but much much softer straight from the packet than storchenwiege. On the thin side of medium. Supportive enough with a preschooler but thin and soft enough not to feel difficult.

I'd also look at buying 2nd hand - try www.naturalmamas.co.uk for sale board. If you buy something 2nd hand, chances are the breaking in bit is done for you by someone else.

There is a facebook group too that is very active for selling and trade called slings and things-FSOT.

They do get softer. I've had an ellaroo which was nice and soft, a didymos indio which was lovely. I've just sold it and I miss it already. The didy was so supportive even with a 3 year old. Lenny Lambs are nice and soft from new and not too expensive.

Natibabys are often soft from new, too - I have the savannah and it was great straight out of the box. Storchs are very stiff, as pp said, but are lovely when broken in. Worth persevering with. Sleep on it for a while - literally, use it to lie on in bed!

Oh, meant to agree that 2nd hand is the best, though. The Natural Mamas site has a thriving FSOT board, too.

Just seen that pootlebug beat me to it with naturalmamas. Oops.

(Have clearly said nothing of any use...)

I'm definitely set on a Didymos but the choice I find bewildering is whether to go for 100% cotton, 50% linen / 50% cotton, cotton/wool etc etc

My Storchenwiege was already 2nd hand so broken in already, I just find it incredibly difficult to tie into a knot - the knot is as big as my head!

Thanks for the tip about the fb page, I've just applied to join it.
