Upper back pain, any slings you can recommend?

DS is 7months, 18ish lbs & he's been in a babybjorn classic whenever DH takes him out.
I can't wear the sling for more than 10mins without feeling the twinge (I've had a back problem for 10years, since I sprouted big boobs overnight as a teen).

I've been looking at the hip seats (specifically the hippychick hip seat) but DS hates being in anyones arms so it wouldn't be suitable until he's older.

He also wants to pull all my hair out, which has put me off a back carrier.

Can anyone recommend a decent baby carrier for me?
Thanks

We've been discussing this here and here.

And I really think Ergo should start paying me!

Oh, the ergo is quite a low back carry, and I tie a ribbon on to the shoulder strap which he fiddles with.

I used a hippy chick at an NT place. I found it very uncomfortable and DS was up & down constantly.

Are you near a sling library or a sling meet? Different shaped slings suit different people so if you can try before you buy it's a great help.

The bjorn holds the baby considerably further away from the parent than carriers like the Ergo, Manduca, woven wraps etc. that small difference in position makes a big difference in terms of how much it pulls on your upper back. I would have upper back pain after a few minutes with my 4 month old in a bjorn. Yet i can carry my 4 year old for an hour with no problems at all in a better sling.
