I am probably asking a stupid question but my dd is 6 months but is teeny (2nd percentile). Her legs do not seem to be long enough to go round my waist, and I'm not big. I have been told to 'fold' her legs Buddha style! But really?! Inherited the sling so no instructions. Help v much appreciated as have two other dc and live in London so desperate to ditch buggy.

Yes the legs should be a in 'frog' position, so they are bent at the knee and the bum slightly lower - hard to describe, are there youtube videos you can view?! you can put a new born in an ergo they are fab, try youtube!! good luck.

I just can't work it out, so, bum lower, knees bent, and feet/toes?!

Are you saying she seems to be too small to fit in the Ergo? The "base" of the carrier should go knee pit to knee pit.if it is too wide you can try tying a ribbon or something across to narrow it. If she is really tiny you may need to get the Ergo infant insert so she can go legs in.

Horrendous link, but there is some good pics and explanations. Scroll down a wee bit to the baby positioning section.

I used the insert when they were tiny

Hi Lucky,

The legs aren't aiming to go around the waist - here is a simple picture that shows the position you are aiming for.

Thank you all for your words of wisdom. I love this board and I am now officially hooked to my ergo. Took dd with us to Olympic water polo yesterday in sling. All happy and no horrendous back ache for me this morning so Grin all round.
