Ds is ten months , not massive (20lbs) but is wriggly . He lOves being carried but I struggle . Do I need the hippy chick seat or is there something else .? I have a baba sling I used when he was tiny but it doesn't work now .any advice?

The Hippy Chick seat is fine for 5 mins or so but not really hands free so imo not a great carrier for anything more lengthy.

If he's wriggly I would suggest a buckle carrier - aka Soft Structured Carrier (SSC) as that will be the quickest to get fastened whilst he wriggles. Things like the Manduca, Ergo, Boba, Angelpack etc. Are you near a sling meet or sling library? Different carriers suit different body shapes so if you could try in person before you buy that would help www.ukslinglibraries.co.uk / www.slingmeet.co.uk

Wow , thanks .. I didn't know such things existed . I have a bad back so have never considered one before but he likes being near me and cries in a buggy if he is there a long time . I end up carrying him on my hip anyway do figured I may as well try one . I'm short and usually a petite hourglass size ten but still packing some baby weight if that helps .

I have had a bad back in the past but have actually found it much better with regular sling use - I think they force you into having good posture. And it will definitely be better for your back than carrying on your hip.

My favourite of the above is the Manduca - because I like the fit and I like the way you can cross the straps over your back in a front carry (you can't with the Boba, can't easily with the Ergo etc). And I like that the body panel is adjustable so that you can zip it small if they want their arms out or when they are littler. But it really is a personal preference thing. You can use them all on your back too - a little more of a knack to get him up there, but should be easier on your back than front carrying as he gets bigger. I can still carry my 37-lb-ish elder two on my back with no problems.

Thank you , I will google that . I figured the same about him being on my hip. My chiropractor told me off but I'm not going to leave him crying if picking him up calms him . Sad
