Ergo with heart-to-heart insert

My 3 week old DD is 7lb 4oz - I've taken her out a couple of times in the ergo with infant insert. She goes to sleep straight away but the problem I have is that her head lolls forward into my chest and I worry about her breathing and stop every few steps to touch her hand/check she's breathing. She's fine when I get her out but if I were more confident about the safetly issue I'd be taking her out in it more/longer distances. She's my second but I didn't use a sling or carrier with DS until he was a bit older.

I've watched videos on youtube and I think I'm doing it right but if anyone has any tips on how to avoid the head-loll thing I'd be very grateful.

Shame no replies this is the reason I don't use my ergo sling. Really can't understand why everybody raves about slings? I can't relax worrying about head / neck position

I don't have an ergo so I don't know - is there a sling library near ypi? Can you go along and get someone to show you?

Thank you I'll check that out

If you're not near a sling library you may be near a sling meet www.slingmeet.co.uk instead.

Brices - I rave about slings, but I wouldn't rave about the Ergo for use from newborn. You can use it with the insert, but there are lots of better things out there. It will be great from about 4-5 months + though. Meanwhile I'd pick up a Moby or Kari-Me stretchy wrap from ebay (about £12-20 but you can sell it on easily when you're done) and save the ergo until your LO is bigger.

I never used the Ergo with the insert (had a Sleepy Wrap when my daughter was young), but her head always lolled. It's not the same type of lolling as when they're in a ring sling, they're resting on your chest and have curly noses which are designed to breathe through even when leaning on you. If it was me I wouldn't worry about it. I did check mine was breathing a lot for the first few weeks, but not specifically in the sling, just generally.
