Baby Wearing at 5 months

I'm new to the site and I'm looking for some baby wearing advice. Is it too late to start baby wearing at 5 months? I've done a little but with a bjorn which we were given just for short times in the supermarket so I can push a trolley but I know these aren't good for regular use or for any length of time. My LO is not really one for being held all the time, she's pretty independent and likes a good wriggle but would be nice to go out without the buggy, especially since we live by the beach. What would be your recommendations? I would like it to be easy on/off without 300m of fabric to get tangled in lol! And being able to breastfeed in it would be a definite bonus but not a necessity. Obviously above all super comfy for baby and me. Thanks in advance xxx

I started using a pouch sling with DD at 5 months. Like you, I started out with a Bjorn. The pouch was easy to put on and carried DD in a hip carry. She could see all around and loved it. Only downside is you can't bf in it. So a ringsling could be your answer. I am waiting for mine to come in the post as have DD2 now as def want to bf whilst still in sling. But I don't know yet what it is like to use so can't say for definite.

I got great use out of the pouch and will use it again. It's easy to store in handbag and no adjusting is required. Very easy to use.

If you want simple to put on and not lots of fabric I'd go with a soft structured carrier - brands to look out for include Manduca, Ergo, Boba, Beco Butterfly and more. Are you anywhere near a sling meet or sling library (www.slingmeet.co.uk ) as that way you could go and try a few in person to work out what fits you well. I really like the Manduca as it is very easy to cross the straps on the back for a front carry (some of the others you use like a backwards rucksack, but that isn't as comfy for me). You can use them all to cary her on your back too.

I also started out with a bjorn. When I finally bought the ergo it was like heaven Grin so so much better.

I've tried loads, and the Manduca wins, for me.
