Slings and rain!

I try to wear DS as much as possible as he is a bit of a velcro baby and like to see what's going on. We do the school run on the bus in the sling, but when it rains he invariably gets a soggy head! Am I missing something or is this the only downside? I can fasten DP's coat up to my chest around him, but no higher. We use a moby or a meitai if that makes a difference. He is 3 weeks old now. Thanks.

A hat? That should keep him pretty dry, even if it isn't especially waterproof - just take it off when it gets wet. You can get special babywearing coats and babywearing covers (the latter just covers your baby on your front, the former covers both of you) some of which have hoods for the baby too.

use an umbrella?

Belmo · 10/02/2012 11:11

I use a brolly and both of us have dry heads!
(This is a lie, I never remember to take it with me, but in theory it's good!)

Wilkinet do a baby wearing cover which is basically an elasticated waterproof blanket that fits over a mei tei fine. However it's not huge - think DS's legs were too long by about 6 months. I got mine 2nd hand on eBay for about £7 which was well worth it.

Either that or a brolly / hat combo works well.

See, I never thought of an umbrella! How dense... I will have to purchase one, I am usually a hood kind of person. Thanks.

I used an umbrella when it wasn't blustery. but we also have a nice rainset that we put on her so the head is nice and dry.

I bought a cheap enormous anorak that I could zip right over a little baby on my front. But then I've never got on with umbrellas; I either lose them or break them or run out of hands.

A big golfing umbrella is just the job. But not so great if it's windy....

naturalmamajord · 04/03/2012 18:24

Yeah a broody for when its not windy...however I'll be investing in a waterproof cover...we use a boba outside n hopefully a wrap for summer :)

naturalmamajord · 04/03/2012 18:24

Predictive type -.- brolly**

SoupDragon · 04/03/2012 18:25

I always used an umbrella too.
