Sling suitable for a wedding (and other occasions)

Hi, I would be grateful for a bit of sling advice. I have one DD who is 16 months now and a second DC due in June. We have been invited to a wedding (which will involve at least 2 nights overnight stay in July) and if all goes ok would love to attend with DH and both DC's.

I'm looking for a sling that would be smart enough for a summer wedding and easy to slip on and off - if I can BF with it on would be an extra bonus.

Ideally I'd like one that I can also use regularly to carry around DC2 while running after DD and also occasionally carry DD in (especially as it's getting a bit more tricky to carry her while I'm pregnant).

Is there one sling that could tick all the boxes? I've got a wilkinet sling that I used occasionally with DD but didn't really get on with it.

The easiest thing for a wedding with a tiny baby is probably a pouch. Otherwise I'd go for a nice wrap sling. Bit more complicated but will do everything you want it to and can be used form newborn to great big toddler. You can get some lovely fabrics or you can get undied gauze ones here which are good for summer and then dye it yourself at home to coordinate with your wedding outfit Grin natural gauze for dying.

Or a lot of people who are not sure about cloth slings quite like the connecta as it is a cloth sling but has buckles. You can get great fabrics too :)

idea of range of fabrics with wrap slings depending on which make you go for Don't get a stretchy one though if you want to be able to carry your toddler too, stick with woven.

Have a look at Sakura Bloom, they are beautiful and as they are ringslings you can breastfeed in them(will need a bit of practice though). You can get them here: slumber-roo.co.uk/brand/16/sakura-bloom

You could carry DC2 in a wrap sling and make your own (at that age would be fine in a stretchy cotton jersey sling for which you'd just need a length of fabric, so "make" is a bit of an exaggeration - see here for instructions. Then you could choose a fabric that you thought looked good enough for the wedding. But if you want to carry DC1 as well you'd want woven fabric rather than jersey).

Or you could look at a Rose and Rebellion carrier. Or if you really want to dazzle at the wedding, order a custom Babyhawk (I really covet a custom Babyhawk).

Thank you for all your suggestions. It's given me a lot to think about! I love the idea of a glam ring sling to go with my wedding outfit but I just have to watch my budget a bit.

I'll probably look at getting another sling/wrap for day-to-day use once dc2 arrives and I get a better feel for what will suit us the most.
