Do you have to be good at knots for a kari-me?

I am clumsy and crappy at things like knots - does this mean the kari-me is not for me or is it possible even for the most inept amongst us?

If you can tie your shoes you can tie a Kari Me :)

I am not only inept but clumsy too and have carried both DDs in a KariMe. If you can do a firm granny knot or bow you will be fine.

Indith · 24/01/2011 12:19

Perfectly possible for the inept Grin Just a double knot/granny knot is all you need.

not at all, but i went for a close sling in the end to safe me having to try LOL

Wildpoppy · 24/01/2011 12:26

thank you - perhaps I will get one then.

Would a second hand one on ebay be a bad idea - I mean presumably they don't become weaker with age?

Second hand is fine, lots of people buy and sell slings. There are often some for sale on teh sale boards here and there is also a yahoo group called UKbabywearingswap (I think) that is supposed ot be pretty good for getting a second hand sling.

I am the most inept and clumsy person in the world and have managed to carry DD is carriers similar to and more complicated than the Kari Me. Practice lots at home to get comfortable with it.

Within a week, tying a sling or wrap just becomes second nature.
