Very short indoor carries - Hippychick hipseat?

I'm finding it hard work carrying my 99th centile 11 m.o. up and down stairs at home (I have back & wrist problems and the house is on 3 floors). I was wondering about some sort of carrier to help distribute his weight better, and wondered if anyone can tell me if the Hippychick hipseat might be any good.

I've a Connecta, but I'm carrying him for such short periods of time that it's not really worth the fuss of putting him in it (plus the way I need to lift him for that particularly strains my hands).

Any thoughts? (I'm writing my Christmas list so I want to know whether to add it or not. Wink)

I've not used on, but if you are literally just carrying him up and down the stairs...then I think it would be a good option.

Other option would be a ringsling or pouch? They would certainly give you more options if you wanted to use it more frequently/out of the house.

I had a hippyseat and loved it. It was just right for short carries that I had to do once they were past the sling stage.(or i couldn't be bothered with the faff of putting them in sling) My sister has wrist problems and found carrying difficult and loved it too.

You still have to hold on to them until they are big enough to hold onto you IYSWIM but I found it much easier than just on my hip. (mind you, i have very small hips so anything sticking out would have helped!)

I had one of these for my late walking DS and I found it really helpful as I was getting backache from twisting to hold him. Plus, on and off as needed without the faff. Def recommend for short trips.

Mine arrived this morning Smile

Obviously haven't had much time to play with it but it does seem to take some of the weight off the arms and (more importantly I think) stops you doing that hip jutting thing that ruins your posture and hurts.

DS is only 6m and just under 50th centile so it's the latter that is more important to me.

It's certainly quick to put on as well so agree that for short trips/indoors it is a good option.

Thanks for the replies. It sounds like it would suit me. I definitely do the hip jutting thing when carrying DS in arms. I'd probably leave the seat on all the time indoors so I can grab DS easily.

Out of the house is generally pushchair or DH doing the slinging - I'm not supposed to be doing much sling wearing (my physio forbade it.) :(

I used one on a daytrip to a stately home and it was brilliant. Get one.
