Hi,

I am would like get a baby wearing coat this winter and I am trying to decide between a MAM coat and a kindercoat.
I would like some that is very easy to use - put on and go type.

Have you used one, if so, which?

Thanks in advance!

Loopy - thanks! Have you used a Mam as well?

I read on some forum that mam was harder to put on by yourself ..

Check out Lillies of the Valley on Etsy, they look gorgeous. Would say you only need one for back wearing with a non walker (so quite specific age group).

Thanks BeehiveBaby. I tried to search for it on the Etsy website but I couldn't find it Confused

DS is 18 months old and can walk. But I carry him when its a long walk/on the bus/ etc

All I meant is that they will probably need to be warmly enough dressed themselves to put down at some point when a toddler.

I still want one of these though!

Ooh that looks nice BeehiveBaby :)

The thing is DS is 18 months, so he is a bit in between the stage of wanting to be carried and wanting to walk IYSWIM

hmmm i might not get one at all :(

ideally i just want something fleecy/soft to drop over both of us with a head opening big enough to fit us both .. anything out there like that?

I found a very cheap acrylic cape style cardigan with buttons all the way up the front and wore that over both of us with the top 2/3 buttons left undone last year.

Yep I was just about to suggest what Loopymumsy said! I have used my Grandad's coat (Large size whereas I am small) before, without cutting a hole though.

I find toddlers too bulky to carry when they are wearing coats though so I prefer to carry DS' coat in a bag for if he wants to get down, and wear a coat over both of us.

bluecardi · 19/09/2010 20:17

I just wear a wide coat that I can button up over a babysling or tuck around when carrying in a dark colour so muddy shoes don't show.

Ooh, thanks everyone!

Beehive - do you have a link to that cardigan by any chance?

Loopymumsy - I like the idea of the DIY fleece Grin will go check it out.

BertieBotts - on another note, what sort of bag do you carry? This has been bothering me for a while, I prefer backpacks but since carrying DS on my back, I have started wearing it on my front IYSWIM! Is there a better solution?

No link - it was from the Ethel Austin bargain bin! It's like a knitted cape - there's actually loads similar about at the moment. I have a Kinder poncho for over the top if needed.

I use a gigantic cycling bum bag from Snow and Rock but they don't have the precise one anymore.

JellyBellies I've heard a lot of people use OnBags while babywearing but have never seen or worn one myself - from googling I believe they're a bit like mei tai bags so you can tie on in a variety of ways. I just pack a very small bag that can go across my body and is light enough not to press on the baby.

I am just looking into coats myself. So far when it's rained I've just worn a large zip-up hoodie over both of us, it just about fits.
